Our Impact

Each year we make an incredible impact on the people and places in the West Midlands.  Our local programmes and services are tailored to the needs of partners and communities in the area but when all that local activity is added together, it also becomes a major national force for change.

We work on hundreds of individual projects each year and measure our impact in various ways – for example area of land improved and amount of carbon saved – but what’s most important is how we change people’s lives. These quotes speak for themselves:

  • "It’s brilliant!  It’s helped me to develop my construction skills with a prospect of employment when I’ve finished." (Stephen, Training participant)
  • "This partnership has really flourished.  The residents are really pleased and from a business point of view it is fantastic to have a partner which brings so much additionality to the communities" (Paul Booth, Regeneration Manager, Riverside)
  • "Working on the allotment helped me give the community something back and helped me learn how to grow food." (Paul, vinvolved participant)
  • "Groundwork has been excellent in responding to our Play Pathfinder programme.  Groundwork has not only designed some really interesting new spaces, but have installed these using the land apprentice programme." (Sarah  Campbell, Chief Cultural Services Officer, Wolverhampton City Council)
  • "Sebastian looked forward to Forest School every week.  He is more eager to play outdoors now and takes more interest in plants and likes identifying mini beasts." (Sebastian’s mum, Local Resident, Forest School project)
  • "The importance of good environmental management has rapidly moved up the agenda and Groundwork has played a major role in guiding the company through this unfamiliar and at times daunting business issue.  The support that we have received has been essential." (Paul Cowley, A.F. Blakemore Corporate Affairs Manager)
