How our work is funded

Central Government:
Groundwork West Midlands receives CLG (Communities and Local Govt) Programme Development Fund income via Groundwork UK, this is for investment and development of the trust.

Local Authorities:
Local Authority sponsorship funding remains one of Groundwork’s most significant funding sources and is based on our relationship agreements with our partner boroughs. Local authorities are also one of our key programme funders, since in the case of physical improvement projects, they are the main landowner.

Public Agencies:
The main contributors include:Tthe Department of Work and Pensions, Job Centre Plus, Advantage West Midlands, West Midlands Fire Brigade and the Arts Council.

European Union:
The main financing programmes we benefit from are the European Social Fund and the European Regional Development Fund.

Private Sector:
Private sector funding includes funding from the corporate sector, such as British Waterways, housing associations, charitable trust funds and foundations, private sector fee income (excluding local authority procurement) and landfill tax.

Other income:
We receive other income from renting some of our property to third parties and from Bank interest.
